Maybe look at Arista Networks? Most of their folks are ex-Cisco so it tastes

thought-

there are lots of top-of-rack 10G boxes, with different characteristics: Cisco N5K, Juniper EX4500, Arista, BNT 8124, Brocade TIX-24, etc. The one feature they all share is that down-stepping from 10G to 1G in the same box needs to be done carefully and with eyes wide open.

Thanks to all who replied.
I think the general consensus from the replies I saw is that there isn't
1 Gbps support as yet in software for the 5548P.

Pete, I wish I had a switch to test the below command on but I don't. I was
looking at reasonably priced available Cisco options for core/distribution
switch fiber port aggregation (12+ ports) to 3 floors (3560G at the access
layer) for a small company.

My options appear to be limited to the 4900 series since the Nexus 5548P
doesn't appear to be doing 1G or Layer 3 (this is a desirable option not a
necessity) at the moment. Size and price are important factors, as they are in
any small organization so chassis-based solutions are not an option.

Yes, your search is correct, and this problem hit us as well.
It's supported in hardware, but not yet in software. Future release
scheduled for Q2 I think.
In the meantime, it gave us transceiver errors on the GLC-SX-MM's.
I had transceiver errors on a customer's 5010, until I did "speed
1000". Any chance that's the simple fix for either of you?
