Forget about CAR, it's old school :-). Go MQC, you'll get what you need, and it's uniform across Cisco's routers (including the IOS XR-based ones). The only issue you'll face now for the ME3600X/3800X is the lack of egress policing for non-LLQ queues. But gladly, that's just a software fix, so you can live with shapers for now until egress policers arrive for all classes. Mark.
