Its not a IEEE 'standard' but it certainly exists, because there is demand for it. The vendor that I work for ships: - "40GBASE-XSR4" QSFP+: 40G over 300m OM4 MMF. Optically compatible with 10GBASE-SR. - "40GBASE-PLRL4" QSFP+: 40G over 1km SMF.
