Cheers Octavio - I understand only 4 ports can be used simultaneously….but the RJ45 ports would not work(Got links, but no layer2/3)…inserted SFPs in the other 4ports, disconnected the RJ45 ports, and all works fine.

You can use the SFP *or* RJ-45 port for that interface (you choose using "media-type" in interface config mode) but it's only one interface. Ports 0 and 1 (only on RJ-45) can additionally be set as PoE if certain conditions are met. So you can not use the two ports of the same interface simultaneously.
