I will upgrade to c2900-universalk9-mz.SPA.153-3.M4.bin -- Version 15.3.3M4 MD
and monitor its behavior.

Looks like it is due to https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCtz27383
May need some further analysis from the TAC team that deals with crashes. I
wasn't able to find a publicly available IOS version that contains the fix.
