Type 8 really was never widely implemented by any vendor.  iBGP has 
turned out to be a better solution for the problem it was intended to 
solve.

Type 9 is a new one with various applications, called the opaque LSA. 
Among other things, it will be used to transfer bandwidth allocation 
information in traffic engineering.
