Has anyone out there had problems getting UDP broadcasts to forward on
anything other then the default Cisco ports between VLANs on a Cat 6k
series with an MSFC? I'm running 12.0(3)XE1, and want to forward UDP
RPC (port 111) broadcasts for NIS between VLANs, but no matter what
combinations I try, the NIS server (and the router's debug) never sees
broadcasts forwarded.

I used the standard commands:

ip forward-protocol udp 111

and then on each of the VLAN interfaces:

ip helper-address IP_OF_NIS_SERVER

Unfortunately, I don't have a router handy to test this with. Every
other engineer I talk with at TAC says the router won't forward
broadcasts to the local subnet (ie: 192.168.2.255/24), and that the IP
would have to be all ones. But CCO and probably 50% of TAC disagree.
Anyone have more insight??

Thanks! Good weekend,
David
