You might well use the loopback interface IP address for the configuration
of DLSw peers. This is quite common in SNA/IP environments.

The advantage of this is that, like the OSPF routing example, you do not
have to rely on a physical interface to be up to be able to reach the
device. The address on the loopback interface is treated in exactly the same
way as any other IP interface, though, which means it must be reachable
through the IP router network and be in a separate IP network of its own.
