I evaluated both and I chose the PIX. I have about 1000 users going through
it.. but here is what I compared:

- Price (PIX is WAY cheaper)
- PIX is dedicated Hardware, Checkpoint you must dedicate a server to, so
you now have to worry about service pack updates and compatability with
other applications, as well as providing the horse power to run Checkpoint.
- PIX has faster througput
- Checkpoint has a much nicer GUI, but if your very comfortable with the
PIX CLI then you should be fine.
- Only thing to worry about upgrading on a PIX is the IOS
- If your main purpose is VPN, the PIX VPN is very young still.. pretty
tricky to setup. Site to Site VPN isn't bad.. but it's not worth it for
remote users (yet). That's a general overview of them.. Cisco actually let
me borrow a PIX to use for a while and play around with.. Checkpoint also
has their own eval version.. best thing is to try them out.

Hope that helps.
