Jim,
the 7204 and 7204VXR are very similar (also the 7206/VXR) - all the line
cards are interchangable, the difference is that the VXR variant has a more
advanced backplane, and is optimized for Voice switching, although is also
great then you want more performance than a non-VXR 7200, but don't want to
jump up to the 7500s
