You don't have to have an AS number and your own IP block but it is strongly
recommended if you are SERIOUS about multihoming. router configuration
really depends on your specific needs, but I probably will never run BGP
with a 2500 even for a small company use. A 3600 with 64 DRAM and 16 Flash
will do it pretty good if your AS is not a transit AS.
