Since the Cat 3900 series TR switches are on the equipment list.

and they can do ISL:

"High-speed uplinks -
     The expansion slot can accommodate two high-speed uplinks (Token
Ring ISL or ATM) for high-speed
     connectivity between switches and to servers."

My guess is that it is fair game.
