it`s when you configure a modem attached to a AS5xxx server ...what happens 
is you telnet to a port (which is actually a modem connected to the AS) and 
the modem responds back to you ..what happen is that YOU can configure an ip 
address to a adapter and then the cisco box assigns aport for each modem of 
that ip address .....you then telnet to the ip address to config modem and 
carry out a reverse telnet because the modem is responding back through the 
ip address to your console???

See what i mean ......it`s not the clearest explaination but i hope it
