There is quite a tremendous difference between the two...
Routed protocols are basically those fundamental protocols (IP, IPX, Appletalk) that 
end up being routed across the network via routing protocols 
(RIP,IGRP,EIGRP,BGP,OSPF,etc)

I realize this is a quick explanation, but I hope this clears it up for you.
