Hi All,
Quick question about the NEXT_HOP attribute used in the BGP protocol...
If the UPDATE packet cross EBGP link, the NEXT_HOP will be the IP address of
source BGP speaker from AS. This will not change with in the AS. All BGP
tablesin AS will have the same NEXT_HOP IP - but what will be used in the IP
routing table. BGP first check if route to NEXT_HOP is in the local IP
routing table.(sync enabled, ext..)
Then what? Does it first look what the next hop ip address is in the IP
routing table and use this IP for the routing table entry, OR does it add
the IP routing table entry with the SAME NEXT_HOP attribute IP as all the
BGP speakers in the AS have?
Both make sense, but not sure which one will be used... it has to do a
recursive lookup anyway!

Thanks for your feedback
Jacques Allison
