Case in point...

I used to do Cable Heandends....very greedy on address space.  Say I added
network 208.208.122.0/23 to the cable router for the customers to use for
DHCP leases.

I trace back out to the internet using the gateway for that network
208.208.122.1.  That would let me know that my carriers were getting my
traffic back across the internet.
I would use different sites but simple ones   www.yahoo.com www.ibm.com and
a few other ones.  Does that help?
