You now have enough connectivity to get authentication going.

Note, the *PEER* is attempting to authenticate you, not the 
other way around.  Fine, I'll bet your router wants to do a 
little local authentication.  Hmmm, where did I put that 
username password list?

I think what has happened is a version of the router/AAA server 
saying, "Hmmm, the lights are out, I guess nobody is home.  Oh 
yeah, I quit."

-Like right here.  The rest of course is noise.  Do you have a 
global config command of "username  blahblah password 
yaddayadda" statement in your config?  Remember, either side 
can initiate authentication.
