This is an example of a  loopback interface :

If you allow remote clients to dial into IPX network resources, you should
create a loopback interface, which is
virtual interface existing only in the router. Assign a Novell IPX network
number to this loopback interface,
then assign this network number to each asynchronous interface.
Otherwise you should have to assign a unique Novell IPX network number to
each asynchronous interface,
 which could consume hundreds of Novell Ipx network numbers.
