Sam,

Hi!  A cat5k will work great in your CCIE/CCNP lab.  You could also use a
2901 (same IOS as cat5k).  For real world scenerios, you could use the XL
models of the Cisco switches, but I wouldnt recommend that for a CCIE lab.
