You do need both CCNA and CCDA to get CCDP. If you're already a CCNP, which
it sounds like you are, then you need CCDA and CID. Aren't all these
acronyms great?

Check out the CID exam objectives here:

http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/10/wwtraining/certprog/testing/pdf/cid.pdf

But word of caution: The list is the Course Objectives for Version 2.0 of
the course that I developed in 1995. Seriously, it is. I told Cisco this
months ago but they have not fixed it. Not only have they not changed the
list into test topics instead of course objectives, but they have also not
fixed the fact that the list doesn't even include changes that were made to
the class in the last millennium. (Don't get me started. &;-)

The course and the test are now at version 3.0. The main difference is that
you will need to know quite a few gory details about Windows networking,
PDCs, BDCs, and all that stuff. (The objectives just say you have to know
NetBIOS, which is based on the ancient version of the class). And you will
need to know some stuff about StrataCom WAN switches, which was added in
version 3.0. The objectives don't mention this.

This issue with the CID exam has been covered many times on groupstudy, so
if you search the list you can get more info. Also, if you buy the right
CID book, then you will study from material that covers all objectives. The
"right" book if you ask me is the Sybex "CCDP: Cisco Internetwork Design
Study Guide" by Robert Padjen. The Cisco Press CID book was written by
someone who didn't really know the test or objectives very well, I think
(though it's not a bad design book, just not very focused on the test).

good luck!

Priscilla
