RFC 1930 gives guidelines on using an AS.  A good current definition 
of AS, which isn't necessarily the one you see in Cisco training 
materials, is a set of addresses and routers, under one or more 
administrations, that presents a common routing policy to the 
Internet.

In your example, company X is presenting the same routing policy to 4 
ISP's.  It should use a single ASN.
