Hi

Rolled cable; is not a cross over cable. It has a pinout of 1-8 and 8-1. It
is used to connect a serial port to a console or AUX on most, but not all
Cisco equipment uses a rolled cable for console access, i.e. Cat 5000 for
example.

Crossover cable: This is used to connect to pieces of networking equipment,
i.e. router to a router, PC to a router, router to a switch. But again not
all Cisco equipment requires a crossover, some use a straight cable, like
the 2621 uses a straight cable but a 3102 uses a crossover cable.

Straight cable: Is generally used to connect a end device to a network
device, i.e. a PC to a switch or hub. See crossover for exceptions.
