Simulating a backup line

Hi friends   I am trying to play around with Routing and Dial backup. I dont have access to an ISDN simulator. Is there any way that I can use my aux or serial ports to simulate a line which comes up only if the Primary link fails. If this requires any special cables, please let me know the pin out. Or point me to some links which explain this in detail   Thanks   Sam
