Let also remember that each copyright statement/license may be different for
each product.  While many say it is illegal to make copies of the software
or materials, others say it is okay to make one copy as a backup intended
for the sole use of the license holder.  On the contrary some licenses state
that you may transfer the material as long as all materials are transferred
to the new license owner, or removed from the current licensee's possession
(i.e. destroyed or removed from HDD).   Some others even say it is okay to
distribute the material as long as the receiver has the intention to pay the
original licensor. 
Let's not even get into the shareware, or trialware, license issue. Hehehehe
