They are essentially the same thing. Cisco gives the course materials to 
Cisco Press who finds an editor who ports them to book format.

In a few cases the author gets creative and leaves out material and adds 
new material, but usually this is not the case, because Cisco wants the 
Cisco Press book to be very close to the course.

Cisco Press, (which is not owned by Cisco, by the way), also writes Study 
Guides. These are not a port of the course to book format. The author 
writes what they think you need to know in his/her own words.
