I have the kit you speak of. It's kind'a a 4000M upgrade kit without the
RAM upgrade (4 FLASH/ 16 RAM, becomes 16 FLASH/ 16 RAM). Going through all
the trouble (daughter card, (2) 8 Meg FLASH sticks, version 10.0 ROM's), I
can see no big advantage. I'm now able to TFTP Serve other devices in my
lab (because of the extra room in FLASH), but other than that... wasn't
worth the effort. If you're looking for more horsepower, sell the 4000 &
purchase @ least 4500 model. If you don't intend on purchasing Fast
Ethernet or ATM, keep the 4000. The best upgrade for that router is IOS
version 11.3(11a). Although Cisco does not recommend it, this image just
fits on your 4 Megs FLASH card. I thought those 4 Meg FLASH cards were
worthless too. I threw my old one on Ebay with a $25 reserve & it sold for
$150 (guess you just never know :-)

Good Luck !!!
Phil
