Frank,

Depending on the device you are using you may or may not need to delete
the entire flash to recover the space.  If the device you are using is
an AS5300 as the IOS images indicate, it uses a "Class B" file system
and, according to Cisco documentation, you will need to erase the flash
to recover the space.  The squeeze command can be used to recover space
occupied by deleted files on "Class A" file systems used by the 7000,
C1200 & LS1010 product families.  Files marked as "deleted" in Class A
& B file systems continue to occupy memory space..and are
recoverable...until permanently removed by issuing a squeeze command or
erasing the flash.  In the future consider partitioning to allow more
flexibility in the management of the device flash space. Here is a link
