yes - they should be- if you claim them as un-reimbursed business expense
(meaning that you use them for something job related, but your boss didnt
expense it though the company and repay you). However, if your own standard
personal deduction is more than all your extra expenses - it is better to
just use the standard (if its higher). In other words- it may not make a
difference if its less than the 4600$ or whatever the standard personal
deduction is.
If you own a business then by all means write it off as a regular business
exprense though the business (not the personal tax).
