As an introduction it is good stuff. I like the "real" equipment better though. You 
can do more on real equipment and if you work on your new toys a lot, you can repay 
your investement in a few days.
I bought a switch recently, within 1 week I put over 100 hours of work on it and I 
still have more to learn... For comparison, I masted my first Cisco Mentor in less 
than 6 hours.
