The distance limitation of the workgroup bridge in conjunction with an AP 
should be less than a mile. If greater than 1 mile, Cisco recommends that a 
bridge should be used. This is due to the "timing constraints that 802.11 
standard puts in the return times for packet acknowledgements."

BTW, I am not a wireless expert but I attended a Cisco Wireless training 
last October.
