The way we implement it is pretty easy...
Just run fibre from one building to another, and terminate it with SC
connectors. (I like them better than ST) in a fibre box. From there you just
need to run a patch MT-RJ --> SC from the Box to the core 6509. ( you will
have to purchase small MT-RJ to SC cables if you put the Fibre box in a rack
close to the 6509.
Good luck... Even if cost is a problem, remember that running fibre is a
good investment.
