I have had the same issue with the 3.1 CD One version.  I went to a dual
PIII, RAID 5 (which helped tremendously) and 1 GB RAM.  If you are anywhere
near the minimum requirements, then you're going to wait.  Some things you
could try: download the latest MS VM from the MS site or other such as
http://www.download.com , uninstall the CAM if you installed it (per Cisco
TAC - they say it really slows down the Java rather than speed it up!), and
double check that the virtual memory is really 2 times the amount of
physical RAM.

Incidentally, the newest version (CD One version 3.2 I think) is supposed to
be considerably faster and able to actually run on a server close to the
minimum specs.
