VLAN/bridging = Layer2
IP Network = Layer3
Sure, you can bridge a separate broadcast domain (ie LAN/VLAN) into an
existing VLAN at Layer2. If the existing VLAN has different Layer3 - ie
IP - network addressing then you will need a way for the two L3 networks to
talk to each other, even though they share the same L2. ie you will need
either a router sitting atop the VLAN, or multiple addresses on your NIC -
one for each L3 address range.
