Hi, I have a 4500 on my desk right now and this is what it reports on
startup:

Cisco Internetwork Operating System Software
IOS (tm) 4500 Software (C4500-JS-M), Version 12.0(9), RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)
Copyright (c) 1986-2000 by cisco Systems, Inc.

cisco 4500 (R4K) processor (revision B) with 32768K/8192K bytes of memory.
Processor board ID 02636290

So I'd say the 4700 processor line you see indicates that you do have a
4700. Also, my serial number starts with 45xxxxxxxx, perhaps yours is
47xxxxxxx. I have seen a few of these models and I think this is
consistent, although I wouldn't bet my life on it.

The -M in the model name indicates that it has more flash or dram memory
than the base model. Here's a link that may be helpful

Subject: ID that router...... [7:4563]

Hey All,
 I'm being offered a 4000 series router, but I don't
know which kind it is, I don't have physical access to
it. I was verbally given the following info:

 * On the front it says: 4000 series router.

 * The show version command says that it's running IOS
4500 software

 * the processor is a 4700(R4K).

My guess is that it is a 4700?

In the Cisco Product Guide, they list 4500-M and
4700-M. What is the significance of the "-M". I've
seen 4000 series routers advertised with out the M as
well. Can anyone provide me with fairly specific ID of
this router???? I need to know so I can price it.
Thanks!!!

   Chris
