Hi all,
I have probably been avoiding too much remote access for a while, but it's
time I suppose. I'm having some difficulty at the moment controlling IP
details issued to dial in users.
ISDN user dialling in to AS5300.
Interface dialer1 is set up IP UNNUMBERED E0 and I haven't had any problem
connecting, just controlling the IP on client.
I'm using an IP pool which works OK.
Issued the following commands:
async-bootp dns-server 10.7.71.1 10.7.143.1
async-bootp nbns 10.7.71.1 10.7.143.1
async-bootp subnetmask 255.255.255.0
async-bootp gateway 10.7.88.2
The first two work fine, and with just these two I've got all the network
connectivity I need, but I would like to understand the next two.
The subnet mask seems to vary, sometimes 255.255.255.255, sometimes
255.0.0.0, but never the configured 255.255.255.0, and debugging seems to
show that neither gateway or mask are sent to client.
I can understand that these masks can work using proxy arp, but want to know
why I cant get the real mask on there.
I thought NO IP CLASSLESS might be the culprit, but it's configured IP
CLASSLESS.
Default gateway seems to stay at the clients own IP address no matter what.
I've been going through sample configs etc, but not found the reason. Off to
look through some books now, but be grateful if you can beat me to it.
Regards,
Gareth
