I've just finished reviewing the following:

Cisco Networking Academy Program: First Year Companion Guide (Second
Edition) ISBN 1587130254 and

Cisco Networking Academy Program: Second Year Companion Guide (Second
Edition) ISBN 1587130297

Both come with CD-ROM and as a complete course for CCNA 2.0 #640-507 are
excellent in both the book and the CD.
For people new to Cisco they are not only concise but will allow you to get
through the CompTIA Network + Exam as a
confidence builder for the CCNA Exam. In the UK I bought both books from a
small specialist store in UK (www.pcbooks.co.uk)
for #25-99 each (about $42 US each Volume). One of the nice things about
both books is the CD-ROM leads you through
the CLI Commands interactively. The CD is quite a piece of Interactive and
Multi-Media Learning.

Having looked through many resources for CCNA its nice to see that Cisco
itself is thinking about the manner and presentation
of its education and of course these books dovetail nicely with other
courses i.e. ICND and other Web (E-Learning) Offerings.
Before anyone says it - no I have no shares in the Cisco or Cisco
Press.......not ideal just at this time chaps is it, better days ahead.
