Netranger is an Enterprise IDS system from Cisco. It works well at picking
up exploits, port scans, etc and has good alerting capabilities. Other
products you may want to look at would include NFR's NID (www.nfr.net,) and
my personal fave,Snort (www.snort.org.) Snort is free and works great
against exploit protection for small networks like my home network :)
Netranger and NFR's product are probably what you would find more appealing
in a supported commercial product.
