John,

I'm studying for the Cisco Qualified Specialist for SNA/IP and have passed
the SNAM test, right now I'm studying for the SNAIPF test. I'm using
"Internetworking SNA with Cisco Solutions" by George and Nancy Sackett. I
think when you define a link station:

appn link-station R2
port VDLC
complete

you also have to define a Destination address for the Link-Station. As I'm
sure you know it's the two-digit hexadecimal number between 00 and FE. I see
examples in the book for ATM,Frame Relay,Token Ring, Ethernet, and SDLC.
Frame Relay for example would be:

appn link-station R2
port framerly
fr-dest-address XX (whatever you are using as the SAP address, perhaps 04)
complete.

For DLSW+ I believe you can use the APPN Connection feature. Global
command:

appn connection-network [netid.cnname] (All nodes using the same
connection network must specify the same VRN name)

You might use:

appn connection-network NETA.VDLC
port VDLC
complete

on Routers 1 and 2.

Each connection network supports up to five port mappings for access to the
connection network

I think this would solve the problem of the connection looking for a SAP
address as it utilizes any-to-any connectivity.

R1#sho dlsw peer

HTH.

Jim

BTW, Congrats on the Avalanche. As a Bruin fan I had more than a passing
interest in the series.
