Hi,

ISDN backup works, when EIGRP stops seeing hellos, the ISDN backup kicks in.
The problem is because the Ethernet interface (e1) is still in the routing
table all routes to the network e1 in on, are still sent via e1.

The config:

The main link, wireless bridge from switch at 192.168.10.128/25 network to
remote site router2 ethernet 1 interface.
The backup is ISDN from router1 serial 0 to router2 serial 0.
Routing protocol configured is EIGRP on router1 and router2.
Floating static routes used with administrative distance of 200, to kick in
if the wireless bridge goes down.

This is my problem, when I telnet onto router2 (R2), and shutdown interface
e1. Backup works great, the ISDN backup link comes up and I am able to ping
and get to the 192.168.10.128/25 and the 172.16.16.0/25 networks. Looking
at the routing table on R2, I see that the route to 192.168.10.128/25 is via
10.200.20.5/30 and 172.16.16.0/25 is via 10.200.20.5/30.

HOWEVER, when I disconnect the wireless cable at W1, again the ISDN backup
links comes up and I am able to ping and get to the 172.16.16.0/25 network,
BUT, NOT the 192.168.10.128/25 network. Looking at the routing table on R2,
I see that the route to 172.16.16.0/25 is via 10.200.20.5/30 and it shows
that the route to 192.168.10.128/25 is directly connected, Ethernet0.

So, when using a ISDN as a floating route backup to a LAN interface
(Ethernet 1), how can we reach the LAN devices (other than interface
shutdown). Following is diagram to better explain.

192.168.10.128/25 192.168.30.0/26

       W1---[Wireless Bridge]-----W2
       | |
S1-----Sw------R1..[BackupISDN]R2------------PC
               | 10.200.20.4/30
               |
               S2 172.16.16.0/25
S?-Server Sw-Switch R?-Router W?-Aironet Wireless Bridge

Is there a way around this?, I searched the archives. I hope I was clear in
explaining, and if further info is required, please let me know, thanks in
advance.

Izzy
