Hi there,
First of all, with a question like that, you should start out with the
Associate list available on http://www.groupstudy.com first. This list is
meant for people who has already passed one of the associate tests (CCNA or
CCDA) and are working towards the professional tests (CCNP or CCDP).
Next, the first thing you must do is to understand the OSI model. There are
tons of information about it in books and on the Internet.
Searching for OSI reference model on Yahoo, gave me a bunch of results, and
here are five of the first many I saw.

http://www.msic.com/technical/network_protocol/osi_info.shtml
Again, on the associate list, there are many questions about this topic, so
you would probably find answers to all your questions there.
Hth,
Ole
