seriously, nothing changes.

on the other hand, if your question is "what is the overhead that IPSec
places on a datastream" you might be able to calculate an answer.

the encryption algorithm takes time, obviously. depending on the platform
processor, depending on hardware versus software encryption, depending on
memory, that time will vary. There can be issues with IP fragmentation as
well, if you are transmitting large packets.

If you are able to locate the IPSec Design Guide on CCO, there is a nice
section that covers some of this stuff. I no longer have the link, and as I
recall, finding it and downloading it has always been a pain.
