some discoveries on CCO:

"Installing two RSP2s in the Cisco 7507 or Cisco 7513 assumes you plan to
enable and configure the HSA feature."

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/core/cis7505/rte_swit/2026rs
p2.htm#xtocid793111
watch the wrap

there is an extensive section of enabling this feature, which from the
sounds of it will solve your problem.

As you know, CCO search engines are not all that great, nor, apparently, is
the index.

OTOH, the product documentation is not half bad.

Subject: Dual RSP Problem(?) with 7513 [7:15461]

Okay.... here's the deal. Got a 7513 with dual RSPs (in slots 6 & 7).
Can't remember offhand if they're RSP2 or RSP4 or what, but they're the
same. I can pull one RSP (either one), turn the unit on, and it boots up
into the IOS fine (IOS 12.1.9). However, if I put them both in and boot up,
the one in slot 6 becomes the master (normal) but then I start getting these
messages on the console saying that the RSP in slot 7 is changing from Slave
to Non-Participant, then back from Non-Participant to Slave, over and over
and over. When I do a "show bootvar" it only shows the boot variables for
the Master RSP and says that the slave is offline (or not there).

Both RSPs have the same boot helper file, IOS image, and config file.

I've searched Cisco's site and Cisco only has 3 documents that even contain
the word "non-participant" and none of them pertain to this situation.

Any ideas?

TIA,
Mike W.
