The snmpget command will give you the real time value for that counter at
that precise moment.  That might not be very useful.  You also need to know
the exact MIB value you are looking for.  You may want to get the overall
result at which point you will need a dedicated SNMP software to do the
analysis for you.  HP Openview does a good job at this but it is an
expensive solution.  You may want to search the web for SNMP tools shareware
and look for a utility that will graph the data for you and also a MIB
browser.  Food for thoughts.

Hi..  Can you teach me how to use the snmp community name to get the 
information I want.   What I want is to get is input/output bits/sec 
counters on the int serial2/0 interface.

I found a command in UNIX -snmpget, the usage is shown below, I know how to 
specify hostname and community, but I don't know how to specify the object 
ID in order to get the information that I want.  Could you please guide me
