going through Parkhurst.

1.4 aggregate-address net mask attribute-map route-map name

1.5 aggregate-address net mask route-map name

no difference. So what's the point?

BTW the CCO command and configurations guides aren't a lot of help here. The
command reference is quite sparse, in fact, when it comes to the switches
available to the aggregate-address command.

There is some slightly better information available on the TAC pages.

Ever wonder about code bloat? I gather this is a god example of how it can
happen.

Today's BGP lesson - what can and cannot be used with the aggregate-address
command.

using either form - attribute-map route-map OR route-map - one can use the
following set comands:

community ( and all related switches )
extcommunity ( and all related switches - although I haven't a clue what
this does - have not researched it yet )
local-preference ( used only within the same AS )
metric ( suggestion to a neighbor only, the neighbor does not forward it )
origin ( transitive - forwarded from originating router into eternity, so to
speak )
weight ( local router only )

someone a while back had a question about commands that show up with the ? -
this is a perfect example of not all commands having any effect in all
situations, even if they do show up with the "help"

I keep wishing someone would do a good book or white paper on route-maps...
