Hey Ed,

I purchased the Slimline 2 (www.cheapisdn.com) because of the price. I
think it works well.

The one major flaw I see is that it does not use SPID's. So my decision
came down to do I care enought about SPIDs to spend the additional money and
get a TelTone (http://www.bigdcom.com/teleline.html) which was about $1865
or go for the less expensive solution. If you do go with TelTone, you may
need to specify you are from GroupStudy to get that price. I believe that
is our discounted price. In my particular case $500 for SPIDs was not worth
the price. You just need to remember if you are going for your CCIE Lab not
to forget the SPIDs if they use an ISDN type that requires SPIDs.

I just tried it and the router will still except the spid1 and spid2
commands, they just have no effect because of the switch type used. So you
can still is use SPIDs in your configurations for practice in case they are
required.

I was also pleasantly surprised to see it is a hi-quality product, fully
encased in metal. The picture makes the simulator look as if it is plastic,
which is not the case. The Slimline 2 also has a pretty nice diode setup.
You can tell exactly what is happening by looking at the simulator. For
each BRI port there are two lights, representing the two B-channels. If the
light is amber then you know level two is up but not level 3. If it turns
green you know level 3 is operational.

Take care,

Paul Borghese
