Hello,I was trying to follow the redistribution lab b/w rip and ospf from
the ccie lab guide by Hutnick and Saterlee. On pg. 586, ospf is configed
on RTC with a default-metric of 64 while rip with 2. With this command,
it works...meaning I can see all the rip learned routes on RTD which is
connected to this router, RTC.(BTW: RTA is connected to RTB which is
connected to RTC...all 3 running ospf while RTC and RTD are running
rip. When I remove the default-metric 64 under ospf, it still works,....
but not when I remove the default-metric 2 under rip. Why would this be
so?What's the consideration as to what default metrics should one use
when redistribution? I mean, is there some rule of thumb for this or
what? Also a #passive-interface s0 is configed under rip. What would this
command accomplish in this scenario?Thank you.
