Here's what I typically recommend and sell for a home lab:

Two Cisco 2501 routers, 16MB Dram/16MB Flash
Three Cisco 2513 routers, 16MB Dram/16MB Flash
Two Cisco 2503 routers, 16MB Dram/16MB Flash
One Cisco 2511 router, 16MB Dram/16MB Flash
One Cisco 2522 router, 16MB Dram/16MB Flash
All 25xx routers with 12.x Enterprise Plus IOS
Catalyst 2901 Switch (same OS as cat5k)
ISDN Simulator
Cisco 3900 Token Ring Switch Simulator Software
Cables/maus/media filters/ethernet xcvrs, and other accessories.
