There are indeed two types of BPDUs. These include Configuration BPDUs and Topology Change Notification (TCN) BPDUs. Configuration BPDUs are used for SPT computation, TCNs are used to announce, you guessed it, topology changes. That is just the basic difference between the two, I'm sure that there are others in the group with the ability to get much more granular in detail if needed. This link from CCO may shed a little light on it for you: http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/473/17.html

[7:39865] The CID exam requirements state "Identify the two types of BPDUs." I can't find a reference to this anywhere. Any idea as to what this means? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
