This may be a silly question but I'm tired of searching for the answer, so here's the question:
Does a Windows client send unicast or broadcast packets when querying a DNS server(s)? The reason I'm asking is that I was looking through my old CID book and came across the statement that "Windows clients send unicast packets to the WINS server at a well-known address". However, there is nothing regarding this when it comes to DNS. An Internet search came up with the same thing everywhere I looked: "the Windows client sends a DNS query". What kind of query?
