I don't think it's the greatest certification (CISSP). A few things you should know. First the cost, it's like 350-400$ for the 1 written exam, and you have to wait to take it and go to a "high school-like classroom. Someone actually stands over your shoulder when you take it. I think this cert is overrated; I have looked at the study materials. It is all about "old school" security, kinda stuffy for me. It is about the 10 domains of security, like Physical security, Encryption, mostly common sense. I think this is an unnecessary cert, and overrated. This doesn't really teach you much about real-world security, I guess that's why they require you have 3 years experience, or a B.S. degree. I am sure anyone can say they had 3 years experience, a little hard to prove and I am sure they are not going to check your references. The companies that request candidates have a CISSP are looking for people who are willing to jump though a few hoops. I looked into it, and I am going to pass on the CISSP. I am not the type to jump on the bandwagon at any certification the industry comes out with, although I have a lot of certs ;) I am working on CSS1 and thinking down the line on doing CCIE Security. My 2 cents.

Now onto CCIE Security. I have learned a lot from everyone's postings on this list. Could anyone comment on if doing the CISSP would be a good idea?
